Limón is located on the south Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, eighty miles from San José. It is the main port city of the Atlantic coast. It was founded as a port city to export bananas and grains from Costa Rica to all over the world. The city was established in 1502 when Christopher Columbus landed in Limón, Costa Rica during his final trip to America.
