Playa Negra, Guanacaste is one of Costa Rica’s perfect destination for surfers. This popular surfing black sand beach (thus the name) in Guanacaste has consistent waves and great surf breaks with offshore winds most of the year. Other surfing characteristics of Playa Negra are the great surfing conditions, clear waters with a great temperature, it has a short paddle out, hollow right break reef, fast waves, and overall it stands as one of the best break beaches of Costa Rica.
Playa Negra has a number of good hotels from which to choose from. If you are staying in Tamarindo Beach and will like to surf this beach you can also arrange to have a one day tour to Playa Negra. Close to Playa Negra there is a number of great beaches within a few minutes distance by car that provide different breaks to choose from, these beaches are: Avellanas Beach, Junquillal Beach, Callejones Beach, and Marbella Beach.
