Nosara Beach, along with the Guiones Beach, Pelada Beach, and Ostional Beach, make up the area of Ostional Wildlife Reserve. One of the main characteristics that make Nosara Beach a great beach destination is that the community of Nosara village and the foreign residents that live throughout the beautiful wild coast of Nosara Beach, have established as a primary goal that the development of this Costa Rica beach is in harmony with the natural environment of the surrounding tropical dry forest and mangrove swamps. Hotels and other buildings in and around Nosara Beach have been built in an unobtrusive way that does not disrupt the dry tropical forest. Nosara Beach not only is a beautiful Costa Rica beach it is also backed by a very diverse dry tropical forest where toucans, parrats, monkeys, armadillos lurk from the forest into the beach. Fishing is also a popular activity especially during the incoming tide when snook and seabass can be caught. The Nosara River is also great for river canoeing and sighting a variety of birds and other wildlife species. Surfing at Nosara Beach can be good. In case you will like to take some surfing lessons you can go to the Nosara Surf Shop, they also repair surfing boards, rent snorkeling gear, and arrange surfing tours. Another great activity while at Nosara Beach is to go horseback riding along the ridge or in between to the dry tropical forest and the beach, as it is definitely a pleasant scenic experience.
The adjacent Guiones Beach is definitely worth visiting. This three mile long beach of white sand is surrounded by the exuberant vegetation. The waters are warm and there are great waves for surfing and swimming. Guiones Beach combines gentle waves mixed with multiple long beach breaks to the left and right. Usually the best time of the year to go surfing at Guiones Beach is from November through May and the best time of the day is in the early morning hours. Along the south part of Guiones Beach in Costa Rica there are is beautiful long stretch of pink sand beach that is definitely recommend visiting.
